Description:
The performance is a tribute to an outstanding composer and pianist whose works and piano performances inspired Magdalena Owczarek, assistant professor at the Academy of Music in Lodz, to embody music in stage performance.
The performance is an artistic reflection on relations between people in the modern world. It was developed as a performance played out in various spaces. The premiere of the performance took place on January 27, 2024 at the Hilary Majewski Tenement House (11 Włókiennicza St. in Lodz), owned by the inLodz21 Cultural Institution.
Root, stone, circle – these are the symbols from which the metaphors presented in the stage paintings are built. Metaphors about life, its passing, the hardship of wandering, about difficult relationships between people, troubled times and aggression.
The rolling wheel is a metaphor for the passing of life, human wandering not always easy, often encountering obstacles.
The root is the beginning, the source of life, it is the split between earth and heaven. The root must be nurtured, not destroyed.
Stone – an ambiguous symbol, often a sign of permanence, stability, sometimes a source of creation (as proven by Zygmunt Krauze, using stones in his instrumentation); but it can also be an obstacle in the paths of life and a tool of aggression.
