Warsaw

“The Last Recital” is a summary of Zygmunt Krauze’s 60 years of piano experience.

This applies to both the repertoire – mainly 20th century music, and the manner of performance, which combines accuracy with score, improvisation and theatrical elements. The recital program includes masterpieces of 20th century music and the best-known excerpts from the classics. It is a collage of piano literature from Bach to today, performed without interruption, creating surprising contrasts, showing improvised classics with theatrical elements. The program includes Cage, Messiaen, Satie, Andriessen, Webern, Stockhausen, Cowell, Ligeti, as well as Polish composers Lutoslawski, Schaeffer, Sikorski, Luciuk, Krauze and many others. There are also interludes in which the pianist performs fragments of works and improvises on themes by Chopin, Beethoven, Haydn, Brahms and Liszt. Each time “The Last Recital” sounds different, depending on the spontaneous decisions of the pianist, who, in addition to playing on the keyboard, uses gestures, vocal and theatrical effects and piano preparations.
