Zygmunt Krauze. Creative archive

The Museum of Art in Łódź has made an unprecedented purchase of all the manuscripts of Zygmunt Krauze’s works – more than a hundred scores and sketches, starting from his school notebooks and ending with his most recent works, as well as the most valuable part of the composer’s correspondence, i.e. around 350 letters, e.g. from Nadia Boulanger. These include letters from Nadia Boulanger, John Cage, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Wojciech Kilar, Witold Lutosławski, Michael Nyman, Bogusław Schaeffer and Tomasz Sikorski.

The resource is open-ended and has grown by more than 200 letters and 3 scores created in 2024 and 2023. The artist intends to supplement the Archive with further gifts.

Zygmunt Krauze’s creative archive has found its way to the Museum of Art in Łódź thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage’s funds from the state budget reserve in 2023.
