The “Ion Românu” Symphony Orchestra and the Chorus of the Banat Philharmonic Orchestra of Timișoara come together to premiere a collective work under the baton of GABRIEL BEBEȘELEA: REQUIEM “IN MEMORIAM” DEDICATED TO THE VICTIMS OF COMMUNISM.

The piece, commissioned by the Banatul Philharmonic, was written by seven composers from seven former communist countries that, like Romania, underwent revolutions in 1989: ZYGMUNT KRAUZE (Poland), MARTIN SMOLKA (Czech Republic), IRIS SZEGHY (Slovakia), SVEN HELBIG (East Germany), LÁSZLÓ TIHANYI (Hungary), DOBRINKA TABAKOVA (Bulgaria), DAN DEDIU (Romania).

The concert takes place as part of the European Capital of Culture.
